Limited-Edition Flavour Marks McKenna Milestone Cizzle Brands Corporation has launched Draft Day Blue, a limited-edition blue cherry flavour of its CWENCH Hydration sports drink, to celebrate brand ambassador Gavin McKenna's selection as the first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. McKenna, an 18-year-old forward from Whitehorse, Yukon, signed with CWENCH in 2024—before he became the consensus top prospect. "We didn't sign Gavin because he was the first overall pick. We signed him because we believed he would become one, long before it was obvious to everyone else," said John Celenza, Chief Executive Officer of Cizzle Brands. "Backing emerging talent is part of who we are. Gavin now steps onto the biggest stage in hockey, in the most passionate and demanding market in the world, and we could not be prouder to be in his corner. Draft Day Blue is our way of celebrating Gavin's latest accomplishment and continuing to set CWENCH as the aspirational brand in the sports hydration category."

Rapid Manufacturing Enables Market Timing The 500 mL limited-time offering is the result of vertically integrated manufacturing at The CWENCH Hydration Factory, which enabled Cizzle to move from concept to finished Tetra Pak product on an accelerated timeline. Draft Day Blue will be available only while supplies last. Initial retail distribution includes Shell Canada, CanCo Gas, and Healthy Planet, with additional retail partners expected in the coming weeks.

McKenna's Path and CWENCH Partnership McKenna's rise through competitive hockey aligns with CWENCH's stated mission to invest in athletes early. After developing in Whitehorse minor hockey, he became one of the Western Hockey League's most dominant players with the Medicine Hat Tigers, earning CHL Player of the Year honours and a 54-game point streak. He then moved to Penn State for the 2025–26 NCAA season, posting 51 points in 35 games, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year, and becoming a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. He also represented Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship. Under his exclusive endorsement agreement with Cizzle, McKenna granted the company rights within the sports drink, energy drink, isotonic beverage, and supplement categories. He becomes the second number one draft pick to represent CWENCH, following 2024 MVP Nathan MacKinnon.

Why It Matters

For operators, this move demonstrates how vertically integrated beverage manufacturers can rapidly capitalize on cultural moments—from product conception to retail shelf placement. It also underscores the competitive value of athlete partnerships signed early, before market consensus, positioning CWENCH for stronger brand equity as McKenna's NHL career develops.
