Ken Uptain and Scott Miller, the founders behind Essentia Water, have launched Yesly, a water and sports drink hybrid designed for all-day hydration rather than gym-specific use. The brand debuts in two lines: Functional Water for everyday hydration, and Functional Energy for when consumers need a boost. Both products contain electrolytes and essential vitamins—B6, B12, and C—with zero sugar, no artificial sweeteners, and no dyes.

Product Positioning Yesly differentiates itself from traditional sports drinks like Gatorade and Propel by reversing the typical electrolyte balance. The drinks deliver higher magnesium and potassium levels but lower sodium than conventional sports drinks. Functional Energy delivers 114mg of natural caffeine from green tea, equivalent to roughly one cup of coffee. "It's a lighter, more approachable take on the traditional sports drink. Functional enough for a workout, refreshing enough for every occasion," according to the brand.

Market Context

Essentia Water, acquired by Nestlé in 2021, became one of the top-selling premium bottled water brands before the transaction. The new venture arrives as the functional beverage category continues expanding beyond workout-focused positioning into everyday consumption occasions.

Why It Matters

Yesly targets operators and retailers seeking premium hydration options that appeal to health-conscious consumers unwilling to compromise on taste. The positioning as an all-day alternative to sports drinks reflects broader consumer demand for functional beverages without artificial ingredients.
