Athletic Brewing Company has secured a multi-year pouring-rights agreement with MetLife Stadium, becoming the official non-alcoholic beer partner of both the New York Giants and the New York Jets — marking the Connecticut-based brewer's first formal sponsorship of an NFL stadium and two professional football franchises simultaneously.

The deal is a meaningful on-premise distribution milestone for the non-alc segment. Athletic's brews will now flow through concession points across MetLife Stadium's 82,500-seat footprint in East Rutherford, N.J., one of the highest-volume live-event venues in North America and the No. 1 U.S. stadium by tickets sold and ticket revenue in 2024, according to Pollstar.

The SKUs on Tap

Two SKUs anchor the stadium pour: Run Wild IPA and Upside Dawn Golden, both served in 19.2 oz. cans — the supersized format that has become the de facto on-premise standard for stadium beer sales. Placement will span concourse displays, kiosks, LED menus, and pylon signage, with video board integrations and fan sampling activations on select game days. Athletic will also appear across both teams' TV, radio, digital, and social platforms, extending reach well beyond the in-venue pour.

Later in 2026, the company plans to release limited special-edition 12-pack retail packaging — Run Wild IPA branded with the Giants logo and Upside Dawn Golden carrying the Jets mark — giving wholesale distributors a co-branded off-premise SKU to merchandise in the Tri-State market ahead of and during the NFL season. That kind of retail tie-in is a proven traffic driver at the planogram level, particularly for grocery and convenience accounts running NFL-season end-cap programs.

Scale and Market Position

The MetLife deal extends a venue network that Athletic says already covers more than 200 sports and entertainment properties nationwide, spanning professional soccer, baseball, lacrosse, hockey, college athletics, and live music. That footprint, combined with retail distribution at more than 75,000 locations, gives the brand a rare dual on-premise/off-premise presence that few NA producers can match.

By NielsenIQ data through the 52 weeks ending July 11, 2026, Athletic holds better than 50% market share in NA craft beer across total U.S. XAOC plus liquor open state and convenience channels — outselling the next 100 NA craft brands combined and leading its nearest competitor by 44 share points. The Brewers Association's 2025 Annual Craft Brewing Industry Production Report ranks Athletic among the top 15 U.S. brewing companies by volume, a standing almost without precedent for a dedicated NA producer.

"This is an exciting step forward in our mission to revolutionize the way the world drinks and make modern moderation more accessible," said Bill Shufelt, co-founder and CEO of Athletic Brewing Company. MetLife Stadium President & CEO Ron VanDeVeen framed the partnership in explicit guest-experience terms, noting the venue's commitment to "broadening beverage offerings and providing greater choice" as the live-event category evolves.

What It Means for the Trade

For wholesalers and distributors servicing the New York metro market, the Giants and Jets co-branded 12-packs represent a time-bound, high-visibility SKU with strong sell-through potential in off-premise accounts targeting football-season shoppers. Stadiums of MetLife's scale also function as trial engines: consumers who encounter a brand at a high-emotion venue are demonstrably more likely to seek it out in off-premise retail — a conversion dynamic that benefits the entire three-tier chain, from supplier through distributor to retailer.

The broader implication is harder to ignore. As non-alc beer continues to outperform the wider beer category, stadium operators are under real pressure to curate NA options with the same rigor applied to craft and import taps. Athletic's MetLife agreement signals that dedicated NA pouring-rights deals — once an afterthought in venue contract negotiations — are now a line item that major operators treat as a guest-amenity differentiator. Distributors and on-premise suppliers tracking NFL venue beverage programs should expect competitive pressure to intensify as the 2026 season kicks off.
