Waterloo Gin Secures Statewide California Distribution

Waterloo Gin, a Texas Hill Country distillery, has expanded its California footprint with placement across all 145 BevMo locations statewide. The rollout gives consumers easier access to the brand's two core expressions—Waterloo No. 9 Gin and Waterloo Prickly Pear & Rose Gin—as summer cocktail demand peaks.

Product Positioning

Waterloo No. 9 Gin combines juniper with nine native Texas botanicals for a citrus-forward profile positioned for gin & tonics, martinis, and spritzes. The Prickly Pear & Rose variant offers a pink-hued expression with floral notes and fruit-forward character targeting home bartenders.

The flagship No. 9 earned a 94-point "Superb" rating and Best Buy designation from Wine Enthusiast, according to the brand.

Strategic Timing

The expansion arrives as BevMo strengthens its premium spirits portfolio. "California is one of the most influential cocktail markets in the country, making this expansion an important milestone for our brand," says Justin Meigs, CEO of Waterloo Gin. "BevMo has built a reputation for bringing consumers exceptional premium spirits, and we're excited that gin lovers across California can now easily discover Waterloo for a fresh take on American craft gin."

Waterloo Gin operates under the ownership of John Paul DeJoria, the founder of Paul Mitchell Systems and Patrón Tequila.

Why It Matters

For retailers and on-premise operators, Waterloo's BevMo placement signals sustained growth in the American craft gin category and validates regional spirit brands with strong critical ratings. The brand's dual SKU strategy—classic botanical and contemporary flavored expressions—addresses both traditional gin consumers and trend-conscious home entertaining segments.
