Premier Protein, the nutrition label owned by BellRing Brands, has moved into the carbonated soft-drink aisle with Sparkling Protein Soda — a caffeine-free, fruit-flavored can that delivers 15 grams of whey protein isolate. The line began rolling out nationwide in August 2026 at retailers including Walmart and Amazon.
The soda arrives in four flavors — Grapefruit, Black Cherry, Lemon Lime and Pineapple Orange, the last a Walmart exclusive. Each 12 fl oz can carries 90 calories and 3 grams of sugar, built on a short, five-ingredient formulation sweetened with cane sugar and stevia extract and made with no artificial colors.
Why it matters
The launch pushes the “protein-plus” trend squarely into functional soda, a set where shoppers are already trading up to better-for-you carbonated options. For BellRing, it extends the Premier Protein franchise beyond ready-to-drink shakes and powders into a higher-frequency, impulse-driven format that competes for cold-vault and checkout space rather than the nutrition shelf.
For beverage buyers, distributors and operators, it is another signal that the line between sports nutrition and mainstream soft drinks continues to blur — and a new multi-flavor SKU set to evaluate as protein-forward refreshment gains share.
