The New SKU

Sangría Señorial, the non-alcoholic sangría-flavored soda founded in Mexico in 1960, is extending its off-premise footprint with the launch of Sangría Señorial Zero — a zero-calorie, zero-sugar variant built on the same flavor profile as its flagship product. The rollout targets select retail accounts and online channels, with the new SKU available in single glass bottles and 1.5-liter PET — two of the brand's highest-visibility package formats at retail.

For a 66-year-old NAB brand that has built its U.S. presence largely through Hispanic grocery and general market off-premise accounts, the Zero extension is a calculated move into the better-for-you segment without a full reformulation of the core SKU. The brand's existing multi-format lineup — spanning single glass bottles, 4-packs, 30-packs, and 750 ml and 524 ml PET — gives distributors a wide planogram menu; the Zero line now adds incremental shelf facings without cannibalizing the original.

Consumer Validation

Product parity with the original was a central development benchmark. In a consumer taste test of 400 participants conducted ahead of launch, more than three-quarters of respondents could not distinguish Sangría Señorial Zero from the original formulation — a meaningful blind-test result that wholesalers can use to support retailer buy-in conversations and end-cap placement pitches. That kind of parity data matters in the non-alc segment, where flavor compromise has historically been the primary barrier to trial and repeat.

"With Sangría Señorial Zero, we're giving consumers another way to experience the unique flavor they love — with zero sugar and zero calories, without compromising the experience," said Jorge Gamboa, brand manager of Sangría Señorial.

Route-to-Market Outlook

The zero-sugar NAB segment has seen sustained shelf expansion across both conventional and Hispanic-format grocery channels as retailers seek to capture health-conscious shoppers who still want flavor-forward options. Sangría Señorial Zero is positioned squarely in that white space — a non-alcoholic, zero-calorie SKU that competes for fridge-pack and ambient shelf real estate in a category increasingly crowded with sparkling waters and diet sodas. For distributors already carrying the Señorial portfolio, the Zero extension represents a low-friction add: same supplier, same delivery network, new facing.

Initial availability is limited to select retailers and direct-to-consumer online, suggesting the brand is staging a controlled launch before broader distribution expansion — a common approach for NAB suppliers testing velocity at retail before committing to full national wholesaler rollout.
