Buyer-Judged Competition Expands to Record Participation The PR%F Awards has opened registration for its Fall 2026 competition, announcing record-breaking participation from professional beverage buyers who control purchasing decisions for major retailers, restaurant groups, and distributors nationwide. Unlike traditional beverage competitions judged by journalists or educators, every entry will be evaluated exclusively by active buyers with direct influence over shelf placement and distribution. "Every single judge is a decision-maker actively sourcing products for retail, hospitality, and distribution across the U.S.," said Michele Tell, Executive Director of the PR%F Awards. "For brands, this means real credibility, real visibility, and real opportunity to get their products into the hands of consumers."

Comprehensive Category Structure The competition spans more than 300 categories covering spirits, wines, water, soda, energy drinks, non-alcoholic beverages, ready-to-drink cocktails, and infused products containing CBD, THC, hemp, and kava. The platform also includes categories for garnishes, frozen beverages, specialty cocktails, and equipment. "If it is liquid, it belongs in the PR%F Awards," Tell said.

Dual-Medal Format Entries automatically participate in two separate judging programs for a single $495 fee.

On the first day, judges conduct double-blind tastings evaluating flavor, aroma, mouthfeel, and quality without brand or packaging information. The second day focuses on bottle design, logo, theme, and overall brand aesthetics through the Total Package rating program. Winning brands can earn two separate medals—one for taste and one for design—providing marketing assets backed by buyer approval.

Diversity Recognition Women-owned and veteran-owned businesses receive automatic accolade medals upon entry, recognizing their contribution to the industry.

Key Dates and Requirements Registration deadline: October 26, 2026 Competition week: November 9-13, 2026 Spirit and wine entries require three sample bottles per SKU (or 12 smaller bottles). All other beverages require 12 cans, bottles, or pouches per SKU. Infused products must include a Certificate of Analysis photocopy. All samples must arrive by 5:00 PM on October 26, 2026 at designated Las Vegas addresses. An exclusive "Meet the Judges" event is planned for November 10, 2026, allowing up to 25 registered brands to connect directly with evaluating buyers.

Why It Matters

For beverage brands seeking retail or foodservice distribution, buyer-judged competitions offer direct access to decision-makers rather than industry validation alone. The dual-format structure and breadth of categories make this platform particularly relevant for craft, functional, and alternative beverage producers seeking marketing credibility and distribution connections.
