Spirits Veteran Takes New Role at B-Corp Distillery Boatyard Double Gin has appointed Tim Herlihy as National Sales & Advocacy Manager, a new US-based position focused on expanding the Irish gin brand's distribution and on-premise presence. Herlihy will report to Banfi Wines & Spirits, the brand's distributor partner. Herlihy founded Lost Irish Whiskey, which launched across 31 US states and 20+ countries. He will continue leading that brand while taking on the Boatyard role. Over 15+ years in spirits, he held positions at William Grant and Cooley Distillery, building Irish whiskey brands. He is also co-author of From Barley to Blarney: A Whiskey Lover's Guide to Ireland.
Strategic Focus on Trade and Bartenders In his new role, Herlihy will lead efforts to strengthen on-premise partnerships and increase visibility among bartenders and trade professionals. Declan McGurk, Managing Director at The Boatyard Distillery, said: "There is tremendous momentum behind Boatyard, and Tim's appointment reflects our commitment to investing in the opportunities ahead. His enthusiasm, relationships, and proven track record in the industry make him a natural fit for our team, and we are excited to have him represent the brand across the U.S. market." Herlihy stated: "Boatyard Double Gin is entering an exciting phase of growth, and it's a privilege to be part of the next stage of its U.S. expansion. As someone passionate about Irish hospitality, cocktails, and premium spirits, I have always admired Boatyard's commitment to quality, authenticity, and sustainability. I look forward to helping share the story of this incredible distillery and spirit with more bartenders and consumers across the U.S."
Distributor Sees Operational Lift Jennifer Engel, Chief Commercial & Strategy Officer at Banfi Wines & Spirits, said: "Having a dedicated sales resource embedded in the market meaningfully elevates how we show up day to day. It improves consistency, strengthens execution across key accounts, and ensures the brand is present where it matters most. With Tim working alongside our team and distributor partners, we're able to drive more impactful, real-time engagement in-market and accelerate commercial growth." Boatyard Double Gin is produced in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, and is certified organic. The distillery became the first B-Corp certified distillery on the island of Ireland in 2023.
Why It Matters
For on-premise operators and spirits distributors, the hire signals Boatyard's commitment to building shelf space and bar presence in key US markets. The addition of a dedicated sales manager with established trade relationships in Irish whiskey and spirits could accelerate availability in restaurants and bars currently without the gin.
