Vermont's Lawson's Finest Liquids is entering the non-alcoholic beer segment with Sip'N, a sub-0.5% ABV IPA that hits its 12-state wholesale network in 12-ounce six-packs starting August 12 — the brewery's first SKU purpose-built for the fast-growing non-alc occasion.
The launch positions Lawson's Finest, best known for its Sunshine family of hop-forward IPAs, to capture incremental volume from consumers moderating alcohol intake without trading down from craft. The move extends the brand's planogram footprint into non-alc shelf sets and opens new on-premise occasion windows — both growth vectors distributors across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic have been actively pitching to supplier partners.
The Brewing Difference
Sip'N is not a dealcoholized product. Rather than fermenting a full-strength beer and stripping alcohol through reverse osmosis or vacuum distillation — the process behind many competitive non-alc SKUs — Lawson's Finest built the recipe around a maltose-negative yeast that naturally limits alcohol generation during fermentation. Founding Brewer Sean Lawson says the approach preserves hop expression, aroma, and body that post-production alcohol removal typically degrades. The finished beer leads with Citra and Mosaic hops, delivers tropical fruit, stone fruit, and pine aromatics, and clocks in at approximately 100 calories per 12-ounce can.
The technical distinction matters commercially. As the non-alc and better-for-you beer segment continues to attract premium pricing at retail, breweries that can credibly argue process integrity — rather than subtraction — carry a stronger on-shelf narrative with wholesale partners and retail buyers evaluating end-cap placement.
Cold Chain and Distribution Footprint
Lawson's Finest is maintaining its cold-chain discipline on the new SKU: Sip'N is cold stored, cold shipped, and cold shelved with a 90-day shelf life, consistent with the brewery's existing IPA portfolio requirements. That cold-chain commitment differentiates the brand within the non-alc IPA set, where ambient-shipped competitors often trade freshness for logistics efficiency.
The rollout covers all markets currently served by Lawson's Finest's distributor network across 12 states. CEO Adeline Druart framed the launch as a brand-widening move, noting that Sip'N is designed to bring new consumers into the Lawson's Finest franchise rather than cannibalize depletions from the brewery's alcoholic lineup. For wholesalers, that positioning supports incremental case volume without pulling existing brand sales — a cleaner pitch to chain and independent off-premise buyers looking to expand non-alc shelf space without disrupting craft beer velocity.
The non-alc beer category has been one of the most reliably expanding segments in craft beer distribution, with shipment growth consistently outpacing total beer in recent reporting periods. Regional craft breweries with established distributor relationships and proven cold-chain infrastructure are increasingly well-placed to compete against national non-alc brands, particularly where brand equity and hop-forward credentials are already trusted by retail buyers. Sip'N gives Lawson's Finest a credible entry point into that conversation across a footprint that reaches well beyond its Vermont home market.
