A Gold-Flaked Debut from Mauritius House of Lords Beverages, a Mauritius-based spirits producer, has launched Le Morne 24-Carat Gold Flakes Mauritius Rum, featuring edible 24-carat gold flakes suspended in the liquid. The expression is named after Le Morne, a basalt mountain on Mauritius's southwestern coast designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its significance in the island's history of resistance and freedom. The rum is described by the producer as offering aromas of vanilla and oak, with a palate revealing peach, cinnamon, caramel and fruit, finishing with gentle spice. Le Morne has received recognition from the International Taste Institute, whose jury described it as "harmonious and intricately flavoured."

The Founder's Vision House of Lords was founded in 2016 by Dr.

Sukhbir Puri, a chemist with nearly three decades of experience at major beverage and manufacturing companies including Diageo (formerly IDI), Jubilant Organosys, and Tilaknagar Industries. Puri developed expertise in blending, quality control, and beverage innovation across his career before establishing the company in Mauritius. According to the producer, Le Morne represents over 300 years of collective blending expertise from House of Lords' production team. The rum is crafted from Mauritian rum enriched with the gold flakes.

Heritage Tied to Sales For each bottle sold, €1 is donated to the Le Morne Heritage Trust Fund, which supports preservation efforts at the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This mechanism directly links consumer purchases to cultural preservation initiatives. House of Lords describes its philosophy as rooted in Mauritian tradition while drawing on ingredients and techniques from around the world, reflecting the island's multicultural history. Beyond Le Morne, the company produces rums, liqueurs, and other premium spirits for international markets.
