New Entrant in Alcohol-Alternative Category Hi-Snaps, a new beverage additive brand, aims to capture consumers stepping back from alcohol without sacrificing the social experience of a night out. Founded by Sam Lim Achatz and Allison Parc, the product is a hemp-derived liquid packet that dissolves into any existing drink. Lim Achatz created Hi-Snaps after her own decision to stop drinking. "What she missed wasn't the drink so much as ordering something, holding a glass, being part of the same evening as everyone else," according to the brand. Each snap contains zero sugar and zero calories, packaged in a refillable tin designed for portability. Parc, who previously founded French single-malt whisky brand Brenne, partnered with Lim Achatz on product development. The team brought in Grant Achatz, executive chef of Chicago's Alinea, to refine the flavor profile. The Ginger Calamansi variant won a Platinum High Spirits Award.

Why It Matters

The alcohol-alternative category has expanded beyond non-alcoholic beers and spirits into functional beverages and mixers, reflecting shifting consumer preferences around health and social inclusion. Hi-Snaps positions itself as a convenience add-on rather than a replacement product—a strategy that could appeal to both frequent drinkers and those seeking occasional alcohol-free options.
