Giesen Wines has grown its alcohol-free wine range to 11 products spanning seven varietals, building on a project that began in 2019 when the winemaking team took on a wellness challenge to develop a 0% wine they actually wanted to drink. The New Zealand winery, which helped establish Marlborough as a cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc region following its first vintage in 1981, has since expanded the alcohol-free category beyond its original offering. The expanded Giesen 0% range now covers multiple grape varieties, positioning the company in a segment that continues to grow as consumers seek lower- and no-alcohol options.
Why It Matters
Alcohol-free wine remains a niche but expanding category in wine retail and on-premise beverage programs.
Giesen's expansion from single-product to multi-varietal suggests both internal confidence in the category and responding to customer demand—a signal operators should watch as they evaluate whether to add no-ABV wines to their lists.
