Amsterdam Spirits Supplier Elevates Rum Division E&A Scheer, the Amsterdam-based rum specialist, has appointed Mitch Wilson as Head of Global Rum Development, a newly created position that signals the company's commitment to deepening its foothold in the premium rum market. Wilson brings nearly 15 years of experience in premium rum, including international ambassador roles with Maison Ferrand and Black Tot Rum. Based in Amsterdam, he will oversee commercial growth of the group's single cask programme, support bespoke rum projects, and expand category education. "The future of Rum lies in quality, authenticity and long-term partnerships," says Carsten Vlierboom, CEO and Chief Rum Officer of E&A Scheer. "We're continuing to invest in the premium end of the category and in the expertise that helps our customers succeed. Mitch's experience complements our technical knowledge and strengthens our ability to help customers create extraordinary products and brands."
Consolidating Single-Cask Operations The appointment coincides with E&A Scheer's decision to further integrate The Main Rum Company, its internationally recognized single-cask specialist, into its Amsterdam headquarters. While The Main Rum Company label will continue operating, the consolidation brings its inventory and expertise under one operational roof. Founded in 1712, E&A Scheer sources, ages, and blends rum across more than 40 producing origins and maintains one of the world's largest premium rum inventories. The company serves distillers, brand owners, and retailers seeking bulk supplies and bespoke blends. "Today's customers want more than exceptional casks and bespoke blends. They want strategic partners who understand how successful Rum brands are built," says Niels Benschop, Chief Commercial Officer of E&A Scheer. Wilson noted the scope of his background: "I've spent nearly 15 years exploring every stage of the Rum journey, from distilleries and production to hospitality, retail, education and global brand building. Joining E&A Scheer is an opportunity to apply that experience at the source, helping customers make smarter decisions from cask selection and blend development through to the finished product."
Why It Matters
For spirits distributors and brand owners sourcing bulk rum or developing premium expressions, this signals E&A Scheer's intent to offer deeper commercial guidance alongside its technical sourcing capabilities—a shift toward consultative partnership rather than transactional supply.
