New Guava Liqueur Marks Chinola's Fourth Expression
Chinola Fresh Fruit Liqueurs has launched Chinola Guava Liqueur, expanding its portfolio of fresh fruit spirits crafted in the Dominican Republic. The new expression, bottled at 21% ABV and priced at $32.99 for 750ml, joins the brand's existing Passion Fruit, Mango, and Pineapple offerings.
Made from 100% fresh pink guava sourced from Dominican estate fruit, the liqueur combines tropical melon, ripe pear, and strawberry notes with what the company describes as a natural sweet-tart balance. The product contains no artificial colors or flavors and is gluten-free and vegan.
Positioning Against Concentrates
CEO and Co-Founder Andrew Merinoff positioned guava as the next major flavor category for bartenders, drawing a parallel to Chinola's earlier role educating the market on fresh passion fruit.
"Most guava products on the market today rely on concentrates, purees, or artificial flavor profiles, so there has never really been a true benchmark for what fresh guava should taste like behind the bar," Merinoff said.
Merinoff added: "This became one of the most technically challenging products we've ever developed, requiring years of R&D in the Dominican Republic to preserve the natural aromatics, acidity, texture, and sweet-tart balance of real pink guava in a shelf-stable liqueur."
Track Record and Distribution
Chinola's existing expressions have earned 98 points from Wine Enthusiast and six Double Double Gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition since 2022. The brand currently distributes across 35+ countries, including the European Union, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Guava Liqueur is available for pre-order via ShopChinola.com, with national retail rollout planned for summer 2026 and full U.S. distribution expected in the second half of the year.
Sustainability and Production
Chinola's operations in the Samaná Peninsula incorporate regenerative farming, biodiversity initiatives, and off-grid distillation powered by bioenergy. The company sources fruit from multiple tropical regions while keeping production centered in the Dominican Republic.
The liqueur is designed for versatility across cocktails including spritzes, margaritas, martinis, highballs, tropical daiquiris, and sipping applications.
Why It Matters
As operators increasingly seek differentiated spirits with provenance and authentic flavor profiles, Chinola's guava entry signals how fresh fruit liqueurs continue carving out shelf space beyond traditional categories. The brand's investment in R&D and sustainability practices reflects a broader industry trend toward transparency and craft positioning in the spirits market.
