New Experience Blends Nostalgia With Bourbon Education Buffalo Trace Distillery is transforming its Frankfort, Kentucky campus into a summer destination with Camp Buffalo Trace, debuting this August and September. The experience, designed for guests 21 and older, combines hands-on bourbon education with camp-inspired activities and rare overnight stays in luxury camping accommodations on the historic distillery grounds.

Four Core Activities The day camp features four interactive experiences: Whiskey Woodcraft Workshop – Guests craft a custom muddler from authentic barrel staves while learning about white oak's role in bourbon making. Bung Driving Relay – A cooperage-inspired competition that brings traditional barrel-preparation techniques to life. Blind Tasting & Buffalo Trace Trivia – Guests challenge their sensory skills and bourbon knowledge through blind tastings and team trivia highlighting distillery history. Single Barrel Challenge – Participants sample three barrels of the same bourbon at different ages and attempt to identify each one while exploring how time, warehouse placement, and maturation influence whiskey character.

Overnight Luxury Camping Select participants will extend their stay in air-conditioned canvas tents featuring premium indoor and outdoor furnishings, fully stocked mini fridges with water and Freddie's Old-Fashioned Sodas, plush robes, slippers, and additional amenities.

Entry and Dates Camp Buffalo Trace will operate on August 29 and September 5.

Entry is exclusively through an online sweepstakes beginning July 14, 2026, at noon ET through July 21, 2026, at 11:59 a.m. ET. Attendees can choose between day camp only or day camp plus overnight luxury camping. The distillery will select 90 winners for the day camp experience and 10 winners for the day camp plus overnight experience across both dates. Entrants selecting the overnight option remain eligible for the day experience even if not selected for the overnight stay. In total, 200 guests will attend Camp Buffalo Trace. "At Buffalo Trace Distillery, we're always looking for new ways to create memorable moments for our guests, and Camp Buffalo Trace offers an opportunity to celebrate the fun and connection that make summer so special," said Tyler Adams, General Manager at Buffalo Trace Distillery. "By bringing together interactive activities, bourbon education and overnight camping accommodations, we've created a one-of-a-kind program designed to help guests make lasting memories at the Distillery. We look forward to welcoming guests to Camp Buffalo Trace!" No purchase is necessary to enter. Participants must be legal residents of the 50 U.S. states or Washington, D.C., and 21 or older. Why It Matters

Camp Buffalo Trace represents a trend among heritage distilleries to diversify revenue through experiential programming beyond traditional distillery tours. By packaging multiple activities—education, competition, and overnight accommodation—into a single sweepstakes-driven event, Buffalo Trace increases brand engagement and dwell time while creating shareable consumer moments. The luxury camping element positions the experience as a premium leisure offering rather than a standard facility tour.
